Chi Omega has a national philanthropy alliance with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

As an organization, Chi Omega has raised over $12.9 million and volunteered over half a million hours of service for Make-A-Wish.

SAND SLAM

1/16

The Eta Lambda Chapter of Chi Omega contributes to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, serving children in the local DMV area. Each September, we host Sand Slam, our annual beach volleyball tournament benefitting Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.

This year, with the help of 50 teams and over 400 participants we raised $16,500 for Make-A-Wish and granted two children's wishes. Sand Slam gives the AU community a unifying, wholesome day of outdoor fun that benefits a greater cause that is close to our hearts.

WISH WEEK

1/10

While Sand Slam happens in the fall, our efforts to support Make-A-Wish continue in the spring. During Wish Week, the chapter raises money with fun activities on the quad. Some highlights include "Pie a Chi O", "Shoot for the Stars", and a special visit from Mama's Donut Bites food truck.

Following Wish Week, our chapter heads down to the National Mall to participate in the annual Walk For Wishes, sponsored by Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic chapter. Sporting their Chi Omega gear, our dedicated members completed the 4.3-mile trail alongside the blooming cherry blossom trees. There is nothing greater than doing community service in the heart of the nation's capital by the District's monuments!

GREEK PHILANTHROPIES

Our sisters love not only contributing to our philanthropy and community service initiatives but also helping the greater AU Greek Community! Each semester there are tons of opportunities to participate in other fraternity and sorority events. From dance offs and penny wars to capture the flag and bake sales, Chi Omega always participates in supporting each chapter's philanthropy.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Whatever the cause, Chi Omegas are committed to service and being leaders in these efforts. Eta Lambda is proud that our leadership extends beyond the borders of our national philanthropy. Every year we co-sponsor a canned food drive to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. Last year we successfully collected over 2,770 pounds of food to fight hunger in the D.C. area. Chi Omega has also committed over 160 hours of childcare for kids at Lafayette Elementary School.

This spring, our chapter is helping Miriam's Kitchen serve breakfast to the local homeless community.
